Sometimes I don't feel 27

IMG_4328
27! That's nuts!
I mean I go to work, pay bills, do laundry, buy groceries, clean, do grownup stuff, but is being a grownup ever going to kick in? Does it have to? I have had "what are these crazy kids up to" thoughts or the "I must change the radio station" feelings and I can't even watch MTV anymore - but I still wear sneakers everyday and collect toys like it's my job - I wish it was. Next year is my ten year high school reunion - bahahahaha. That's crazy! Anyone else ever have these feelings?

I feel like this all the time! I don't think it ever kicks in.

I'm 23 and I feel like I'm still a gawky 15 year old! I don't think it ever sets in!

Your hair is fab by the way! :)

Of Course I feel that way! I'm gonna be 30 on Saturday!!! And I feel like that will *officially make me a grown up, but I don't want to change my juvenile tendencies. lol.

I don't feel like a grown-up yet, but have decided it is over rated anyway. For all intensive purposes I am grown-up--married, 1 kid and 1 on the way, job, house, family car, 2 dogs....It is almost shocking to realize I am getting close to 30!

I totally feel ya!
I'm turning 26 next week...can't believe it!
But I think it's a good thing to always stay young at heart!! :)

I'm 27 and still go to work dressed like a freshman in college. I can't give up my converse addiction! Some days the adult side takes over too much and I digress into some silly illustrations or just acting goofy. I think its a good thing!

well according to mum, it never really does. though i think she said that marriage and kids definitely make you seem more grown up so maybe when those things happen? haha, i don't know. it's all a matter of who you are. some people i know who are my age, i would consider them 'grown ups' and they suck hahahah...kidding, kind of. anyway, why bother growing up? as long as you're mature when you need to be (which you are) and aren't acting like you're 16 all of the time...haha, there's a fine line right? anyway, i don't think you have anything to worry about!!

ps: cute photos!!

My 21 year old coworker told me I was old today. Im 24, 3 whole years older than he is. Thanks coworker.

I feel practically like a newborn, i know so little about the world! But youre right, newborns dont pay rent, go to a full time job, clean, etc. Adults do such things. Therefore I must be an adult. When did that happen?

Becky Farley said...

Bahaha Rachael! The same thing happened to me once - a coworker GIRL told me I was old when she was only a few years behind me!!!! ARe you serious!? Who says things like that anyways!? Be self-aware people!! lol You're not old at all Rachael!

im the second youngest person(im 24) in my workplace yet everyone is shocked to hear that, they all think im much older because of my skill level & confidence. Alot of the girls who are only a few years older then me act very childish sometimes and im sorry but in our line of work (working with very sick patients in intensive care) thats just not acceptable and who have to be very serious and professional. However as soon as my scrubs come off im a child....I always go to cartoon section of the newspaper first, I spend ages looking at toys in shops (so does my husband so its not too embarrasing) and I just love jumping castle's! My husband is a real big kid aswell and I look forward to having kids and playing games with them, I think it makes for a better childhood anyway!

OMG, wait until you turn 30! I can't believe it, because I'm still only 16 inside. Sigh. Yes, I will continue to collect toys and wear sneakers everyday, too!

I marvel at the same feeling all the time, and I'm a lot farther along than 27 ;)

I feel like I should be doing 'grown up' things (whatever they are!), and I am in some ways like being comfortable with who I am which for me has come with age. But generally no! X

I'm going to be 25 on Monday and have a one-year-old, and I can say that having a baby doesn't make you feel more grown-up! At least not in my case. It just gives me an excuse to do all the kid-stuff I want to do. :D

I ask myself this question almost everyday! I can't believe I am 33. I sure don't act like I am but that is a-ok with me:)
There are times I do feel my age though and that is when the radio is turned up above a level "3" on our car stereo. Ha! Or when I walk by an Abercrombie. Seriously can anyone shop in there with that music blaring?? Ahhh!!
XOXO

I loooooooove these photos of you! So pretty. :)

Hahaha I totally agree with the person who commented above me. WHY do certain stores play their music soooo loud?! I don't get it. Haha!

Becky Farley said...

I know!!!! Why do they play that music sooooo loud in clothing stores lol??? Now that does make me feel old :)

I will be 30 next year (BOO!!!) and I so don't feel like it. I remember when I thought wow 30 is so OLD. People think I am much younger, but I think thats due to the Hello Kitty T-shirts I wear!

Courtney said...

I TOTALLY feel the same way. I know I am 27 but I swear that I'm only 22! I do have a lot of grown up feeling about music and teenagers and everything though...

lydia. said...

up until i just commented on this, you had 27 comments. which i thought was fun! ha. :)

i'm only 20, but sometimes i don't even feel that old!
well, i guess it's probably more like i don't feel like i'm old enough to be married or grown up.
not at all! haha.

27's nothing!! My boyfriend just turned the big two-eight!! His ten year reunion is in November...and it's my job as his younger girlfriend to constantly remind him that he'll always be 5 years older than me!! (I say it with love)

i'm 27 and i feel the same way, except that i never have the "what are those crazy kids up to these days" feeling because i still relate to "kids these days", and i still listen to the same music stations and buy clothes from the same places haha

OK, I'm 56 and I am still waiting for the adult mindset to set in. My friends all talk about retirement in 10 years and I feel like "WHAT!!?? I just graduated from college" You have to keep thinking young to stay young!
