Antsy Pants

I've been getting antsy about The Great Granny Square Swap! Normally I NEVER finish anything on time, just ask my friends still waiting on wedding quilts, graduation quilts, sugar skull quilts, etc. But I finished all my squares for the swap kind of early, because we don't swap til mid April. To cure this antsy-ness Karla over at The Itsy Bitsy Spider asked if I'd print a few crochet pattern booklets for her. She put together a 24 page booklet full of completely awesome crochet patterns! Go to her blog to download it! She asked Stephanie, if she could use her incredible illustration for the cover, and of course she said yes!

So go download it! It's for beginners too, it has the basic granny square pattern in there! Below are 2 squares from the Itsy Bitsy Spider!

Since this swap is almost over, Amber (our wonderful leader of the swap) was wondering what kind of swap we should do next! A few ideas - Maybe doing a color swap.... assigning a partner and then we would have one color and you would craft/buy/create within that color scheme. Maybe a Spring accessory swap? Small crochet item swap?

More Slide Scanning

I was looking for a stapler at my parents, because I couldn't find the one I already borrowed - Yikes! In my stapler search I found MORE SLIDES! I was stoked!

This time there was only 150 as opposed to the thousands I scanned before Christmas.

These slides were taken by my dad right before I was born and right after I was born.

I also found this Pana-vue slide viewer, but the tiny light bulb was burned out. I'm going to look for a bulb that may work with it, fingers crossed I find one.

I bet this was a pretty fancy, high tech thing to have back then ;)

So I got my ImageLab Instant Slide Scanner out and scanned all the slides. If you want they are all here on my flickr. Like I said these slides were taken by my dad. I love that he took a zillion photos of his dog at the time - guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree ;)

This is my favorite of the bunch, it's my Papaw (grandpa) and his macaw.

Look at those sideburns! The stories I've heard about him are wonderful. He had EVERY hobby in the world, including raising birds. I wonder what crazy hobbies I'll have as I get older? Raising birds will not be one of them lol but you never know!

If you're thinking about getting a slide scanner I really like the ImageLab scanner. It's super easy to use, you just need any SD Memory card and it saves the slides as high rez JPGs. It also scans negatives. I haven't tried the negative scanning, but it's basically the same as the slides. I love old photos of my family, and this is a great way to get them all on to the computer and share them with everyone! Sounds like a commercial lol

Conflict Free

My best friend, Kris recently had her 27th birthday! I bought her a conflict free diamond - kinda! I'm not a jewelry wearer at all. I love jewelry on other people, but just not on me - no real reason. I'll wear a wedding ring (conflict free) one day I'm sure, and I wear my name plate my mom gave me. (Mags, I do wear it, I love it) You jewelry gals out there should go take a peek at Anirtak's etsy shop.

Spring Weekend #2

Thought I'd share my weekend with you! Zero crafting took place, but it was a ton of fun. This was the last weekend for the Tampa Bay Renaissance Festival, so we went! It was a perfect day out.

We of course ate first thing!

I now want a hula hoop! I'm really good ps. I had one when I was little, it was purple. I could spin it around my waist, arm, neck, and leg. Just hula hooping for a few minutes made me realize I should probably go to the gym lol

Best $10 I've sent - EVER! This is a homemade wooden marshmallow catapult!

After the festival we had a big family dinner and shot marshmallows at each other all night. My brother is such a sport, because he was the target for most of the evening!

Here is my fox!

My uncle, Robert Michael Fox, was this very amazing person, who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was very successful and very generous and very kind. He had this awesome excitement for life. He and his wife weren't able to have kids, so he would take us (his nieces and nephews) on all these once in a life time trips. I saw snow for the first time with him and then he threw me in it! He was only 35 when he passed away from a heart problem. I didn't tell you this story to make you sad! I love talking about him! Recently I saw a fox going through a parking lot, where I was stopped checking directions (because I was lost). Other people in my family have seen foxes too and we say it's Robert looking after us.

Dear Spring,

You'll be here tomorrow! I'm very excited! I'm expecting alot from you this year, I hope you come though! I'm very tired of the cold weather and I'm ready for some sunshine!

Painting, toys, & tee, Oh My!

Yesterday this painting was waiting for me at home! Painted by Squink!

I found his work on flickr and just loved it so much! I need to find a place for it!

For now it will be held up by fabric and vinyl toys. Pretty precious right?

They love any sweets especially green rice crispy treats! And in St. Patrick's Day spirit I wore a green tee from Skunkboy Creations! You can get one too!

Even though the work week has been a short one for me I would like the weekend to hurry up and get here quick! I want to MAKE stuff and after work I'm too tired. So hurry up weekend!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

From Mickey!

I couldn't help myself. I was making green rice crispy treats for work and Mickey kept begging for food as my fat puppy does. I grabbed a paint brush and the extra green food dye and here is the result! My green Mick! I wonder how long it will stay this way?
