I got the idea here! Pretty clever! Here are some photos from our Halloween party! It was awesome! Lauren you VERY missed! We had dry ice, slime green cupcakes, bobbing for apples, and a pinata! I took photos of our mummy costumes and photos of the process to make them and I accidentally deleted them! Boo! Oh well! Making mummy costumes is too tricky ;)

Witch's Broom Candy Bag DIY

I love Martha, but sometime I don't! Ha!! But I did love these broom candy bags! Pretty cute and clever huh!? Well they were on sale in the Halloween section at Michael's, so I grabbed em! I only buy Martha crafts on sale, because they are expensive!

I decided to make a quick DIY broom candy bag just incase you don't have time or monies to get Martha's kit! Plus you probably have everything at home to make these!

What you'll need:
 1. brown paper bag
2. twig
3. yarn
4. scissors
....oh and don't forget the candies and treats!
You need 2 paper bags to make 1 broom. Cut strips into the first bag all the way to the very bottom. Cut strips in the second bag only half way down the bag *this is important so you can still fill up the broom*! Now place the half cut bag inside the fully cut bag, fill the bag up with treats, then put your twig in the bag and tie the yarn around the bags and the twig! Tada! Now the lunch size bags are sorta big, so you can give cute broom bags to your neighbors or family members and get smaller ones for kids or goodie bags!

Use them at parties to hold your candy! Remember if you make them, post them here!

Trick or Treat Goodie Bags

Need quick Halloween bags!? Here you go! 

Now these were for a 1st grade class, so they all have the same thing in each one; everyone's equal! ;) 

Here is what we used:

1. Black greeting cards because they were scored and folded 

 (you could just use construction paper)

2. Silver quilting pencil or a white quilting pencil

3. scissors

4. CANDY!!!! Candy! And CandY! 

5. little halloween toys

6. Stapler 

7. stampers to make confetti (or don't because it just makes a mess ha!)

8. little plastic bags or even ziplock bags!

Just fill up the bags with treats - kids will LOVE to help!! Write a little greeting! Then staple them up! Take them to work, school, or give them to the Trick or Treaters Sunday night! You'll be the most awesome house on the block!

Strumpet's Halloween Decorations

Here are some halloween photos for you!

Near the front door! Halloween flash tattoo art by Thomas Kenney, husband to the very talented Heidi Kenney from MyPaperCrane! Such a pretty home when we come home!

We paint bird houses, but because Halloween is near we made haunted bird houses! ;)

These bats are probably my very favorite!! I found them at Michael's for around a $1 each. The little one and I painted them and hung them on the dining room fan! I haven't turned the fan on yet - that should be interesting if I do by mistake!

Oh and the last, but NOT least.....FRANKENPUMPKIN!!!! Pretty awesome!! There's a little (prepicked) pumpkin patch near us and this was our pick! I NEVER have cash on me, which I should keep $10 with me at all times, but I don't! So this patch only took cash, and we found $5 in change and a few ones and TADA we brought FRANKENPUMPKIN home! Don't you want one? I want ten ;) Do you have frankenpumpkins in your town? Fingers crossed you do! 

Halloween is almost here how are you getting ready? I have to make costumes tomorrow! And bake a bunch of scary tasty goodies! Wish me luck!! ;)

I was told that I didn't seemed as stoked as usual for Halloween, and I kinda wasn't! But now I'm completely completely stoked! After a pumpkin patch, flying bats, party store, hours of Halloween party prep - eeek! I cant wait! So many things to show you later today! Hope your day is awesome!

teeny peek at my weekend

Pinball Expo! Bet you're thinking, "what?" Pinball is lots of fun gang! Definitely a strange little culture of people! I was one of maybe 4 gals there! The rest of the people were younger fellows and middle aged men who were a bit stinky, most lacking wedding bands, but really good at pinball! These fellows lives revolve around pinball! It was nuts! ;)

I had fun though! Free Play all day; 24 hours! ha!! I now love Bride of Pinbot and Attack from Mars oh and FunHouse - I want a FunHouse please! If any one of you ladies have a pinball or know a pinballer tell me :) I feel a bit alone here! Oh I brought hand sanitizer with us because well I just had to ha!

We ate at Superdawg! I love a good hotdog - it's kinda a secret of mine! Yes, I've read The Jungle, but I don't care - they haven't killed me yet! Plus I eat them only at backyard cookouts and the 4th of July, so I'll be ok - fingers crossed! Look what they had at Superdawg -cube cream!! It was gross, but it looked awesome!

I'm starting a 1 up mushroom blanket! I saw this and decided I needed one! It's gonna be awesome! I picked a 1 up mushroom - A. because it's better than just red mushroom BIG and B. because I had a bunch of green yarn ;)

I have a zillion more photos! I'll post more through the week! Seriously if you pinball tell me :)
I'm getting ready for the Farley Family Halloween Party!! :) I'm stoked! Getting the mummy costumes together! My brother, Danny comes home Thursday - very stoked about that! Lauren - please come home! Please!!! We need you to complete the party! I'll pay for all your gas and Starbucks needs! Please! Tell her everyone!!

Carnival Blanket is Back!

Happy Birthday Mags!

Help me wish my mom a very wonderful birthday week!

Yesterday was my mom's birthday!!! She and my dad are on a well deserved vacation in the Smokey Mountains! I miss her! As you can see my family is big on birthdays, so when she gets back we'll have to celebrate! I love you so much Mama!!! Our Mags is a wiz-bang-a-roo! Now that I'm grownup (using this loosely) I don't know how she and my dad did it! 3 kids, full time jobs, staying completely in love with one another!! Mags you're the best and I hope you are having so much fun up in the mountains!! ps Mickey misses you sooooo much! ;)

Birthday Fun!

This weekend was wonderful! Lauren was home from Nashville, Danny was home from Tally - it was awesome! We celebrated Lauren's 24th birthday with the whole Fox and Farley gang - what more could a gal ask for! 

Lauren got beary cute head phones from Red Velvet Art! Oh and an awesome portrait of Pumpkin, Lauren's yorkie pup made by Sijle! Thank you Silje, Lauren LOVED it!! I'll post pictures soon!

We had a pinata for the kiddos! Lauren and I had to rip it open because the store bought ones are just too tough for the kids to crack open! 

Oh Mickey! That hat stayed on his head for about 2 seconds! He's not a fan of wearing things! I get it!

Happy unbirthday Lauren! I'm so happy you came down this weekend! I love you soo much and I'm sad to se you go, but can't wait to see you soon!

Getting Ready for Halloween

What are you doing to get ready!? Carving pumpkins into Jacko'lanterns? Costumes?

So far here's what I've done: fall flowers for the table, DIY Halloween greeting cards, Halloween party invitations, and we carved a pumpkin! Making a jacko'lantern is so much fun! We made ours more sweet than scary and gave it some good brows! We also made some tasty pumpkin seeds with the pumpkin guts - waste not, want not! ;)
I also made a Halloween banner with the leftover greeting cards! I took 3 different colored pieces of the greeting cards, cut those puppies in half, stamped them each with a letter, hole punched them, and ran yarn through each one. Pretty quick to make, plus a little one could help!

Happy 24th Birthday Lauren!!!

Today is a very special day! It is Lauren Michelle Farley's 24th birthday!!!

I called her very early this morning and sang to her (i can't sing) ;)
She's coming home from Nashville so we can celebrate all the October birthdays!
I can't wait til she gets here!

DIY Halloween Greeting Cards

I LOVE Halloween! Could you tell? ;)
I may love Halloween more than Christmas - seriously! Here are my reasons:
1. Halloween colors are way more awesome then green and red
2. You can be ANYTHING on Halloween!!
3. My whole family dresses up, plays games, eats great food, and listens to Monster Mash!
4. Jack-O'lanterns!! Candy!! Candy Apples! Apple Cider!
5. Trick or Treating - as a kid it was the highlight of my year! Running around the neighborhood with your parents and best buds getting to eat all the candy you can imagine!
 

Mostly it's just a great excuse to hang out with family and remind them how much I love them!
So for the past couple years I've been making Merry Halloween cards and postcards to remind the gang I'm thinking of them! Here are last years!
Now this year I decided to take a few of my letterpress letters and stamp them on to the cards! I have a small collection on letterpress letters and fingers crossed one day I'll have my own letterpress!! Though I am reminded by my sweetheart that I have a letterpress haha, but it's a 40x50 foot full color press (I work at a print co.) and it's just not the same as the old style letterpresses! ;) So for now I'll use the letters as stamps! And if you don't have letterpress letters, I know Michael's sells stamps of the alphabet or sponge letters, or better yet look on etsy supplies! Oh and I also got the green cards at Michael's (40% off coupon - never buy anything without it)! 

I bought a stamp pad in black and silver. Unfortunately the silver didn't work well at all! 

I like the way they turned out! Maybe I'll use the silver to stamp stars on the front of them! 

So there you go! What do you think!? I have black envelopes! Think that adds a spooooky touch! At least this year there's no blood splattered envelopes - that was messy! ;) I loved them so much though!

It's Fall Y'All Craft Class

Here is the surprise! Tada!

It's Fall Y'all is a 6 week online class taught by Becky Farley, Amber Cox, and Kjirsten Cantrell. This is a must for those who are in need of a creative fix, wanting to decorate your home for the Fall Season, or want to get a jump start on holiday gifts.  The class will begin on October 17th and includes 30 projects for $30.00. That is only $1 a project! Yippee!!

Supplies needed are mainly craft items you already have on hand or that are easy to find in local craft stores. We also have several projects that involve things from nature. A sewing machine is used for some of the class projects, but these can be sewed by hand as well. A full supply list will be given on our private class blog.

This class is designed for you to craft at your own leisure. There are no deadlines. The last project will be posted on the week of November 28th. However, the private blog will remain up for year allowing you access the entire time. We have also created a flickr group, so that you can meet, share and encourage your classmates.

Once you are registered, you will receive an email within 36 hours with login access to the private class blog.

I've loved gnomes ever since David the Gnome, remember on Nickelodeon!? Little fat cheeks and awesome tree house! Plus my dad use to carve gnomes and wizards from wood! He should start carving again! Shouldn't he?! And shouldn't he dress up as a giant gnome for Halloween - it would be hilarious! Think about it Larbear!

Sunset Afghan

Here's a little peek at my newest/almost finished afghan! It's a gift, so this is all I can put up for now ;)
When I started it my flickr bud said, "reminds me of a sunset!" hence that name now!
Oh a few of you asked how many afghans I've made (I only learned to crotchet this time last year). I've finished 13 and 2 are still in the works! Here's my Hook'n Flickr set! I really do love crocheting, and I want to learn more, because I know only the basics! If you have any interested in crocheting you should give it a try, it's very awesome!
