My Weekend

It was an extra long weekend thanks to Thanksgiving! Both my brother and sister were in town, which always makes me happy! Lauren and I took the little bit to Busch Gardens, which I haven't been to in years! We had a fun time and the weather was perfect! My aunt Jackie cooked the MOST incredible Thanksgiving meal, as usual! ;) Brian proposed via scrabble!!!! So wonderful! Still have a goofy lovey dovey grin! We did some cleaning, sleeping in, online shopping, snuggling with Mickey, and hanging out with family! It was pretty perfect! How was your Thanksgiving and the rest of the weekend!?

the Elf on a Shelf

This is such a wonderful gift for a special little one and their family - the Elf on the Shelf book! 

Eli's grandma gave us our little elf and book! It's pretty darn cute! The book about an elf who watches your kiddos actions before Christmas for Santa comes with a little elf that "moves" around the house, because the elf reports to Santa at night while everyone is sleeping! My dad said to put him in crazy places like the fridge ha!! Oh Larbear! I will don't worry! Our elf's name is Pitt :) Pitt the Elf haha! Cute!

We're Engaged! Triple Word Score!

This Thanksgiving was a keeper :)

After the Farley gang ate and we were all sitting around chatting, we decided to play scrabble! Brian was messing with the camera, but that's normal, so I didn't pay much attention. He did seem overly excited to play scrabble, though he is very good at Words With Friends, still his enthusiasm was surprising. He started shaking up the bag and picking out letters - I told him, "No taking the good letters when I'm not looking! -wink" My sister went first with a three letter word, then I went, but I wasn't feeling to completive and a bit ADD-ish so I played a three letter word too. Not too many spots for Brian to go! So on his turn he seemed fluster and he was taking longer than normal, then he put down WEDRING, but I only noticed that NS didn't make a word and started saying, "you can't play that" I take the game very seriously haha!  Then he got down on one knee and showed me the most beautiful ring I've ever seen!!!! I was SO surprised! My heart skipped a few beats! It was the most amazing special moment!! He got me good! I had NO idea! It was just so perfect! My family went bonkers and so did I!!! ps He had been messing with the camera because it takes video and he captured the WHOLE thing - it's hilarious and incredibly sweet all wrapped together!!! He is the BEST!

I have been on cloud 9 ever since that game! Oh what an incredible Thanksgiving! 

Aunt Jackie's cooking was wonderful too ;)

We are still smiling SO big! He's been calling me his fiancé all day and telling me how excited he is, it's pretty darn cute! It's the best feeling! 

I just love him so much! I have so much to be thankful for and now even more so! I just had to share our excitement with you all! I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving too!! 

ps just SO happy! Marriage proposal via scrabble wins my heart all over again! ;)

Magnetic Chalkboard DIY

Over the weekend I made this magnetic chalkboard for the little one's bedroom! We cleaned up and fixed up his room! He even has his very own toy shelf now! I really like how it turned out! He wanted an entire wall in chalkboard paint (me too honestly) but the grownup in charge said no! ha! Maybe one day! 

So here's how I made it:

1. I found the Magnetic Board at Ikea for 5 or 6 bucks, 

but you could use any light weight metal square/rectangle.

2. oh these aren't completely necessary - vinyl stickers - Plants VS Zombies is awesome and we couldn't put them on the iPad so they got used here!

3. Chalkboard spray paint (found at Home Depot or Lowe's)

I turned old legos and alphabet blocks into magnets (I love my hot glue gun)!

Recycled Pinata

Check out our new friend, Mr. Pinata! He has no name yet, but the little one will come up with something soon! I saw this recycled pinata idea over at Katie's very cute blog Skunkboy Creations and just loved it so much! The pinata we mounted on the wall is from my sister's birthday a month back! It'd be weird/creepy if we would have mounted the Halloween pinata ha! 

I had a piece of wood from Michael's, painted it, put a gator hook on the back, and couldn't find a staple gun that worked so I just took the screw driver and tiny screws to put the pinata head in the wood. 

I'm not one for hunting, I mean I get it - controlling over population, blahblah, but I can't imagine killing an animal for sport. But smacking a pinata til the goodies come out and then saving the head and hanging up is a-okay! 

Turned out pretty darn cute!

More Paper Crafts - the Mickey edition!

If you are new to Strumpet's Crumpets, you may not know that I have a fat little Maltese named Mickey. He is the goofiest pup and I love him so much! So much in fact I turn him into arts and crafts or I ask my talented friends to! Here are just a few odes to Mickey- here, here, here, and here! He has his own Flickr set called Puppy Love. I understand how nutty making your dog into to art is - trust me, but I don't care! ha! Once the very sweet and very talented, Steph Dillon design this Mickey illustration! She gave it to me in the sweetest way possible - read here! So I took that awesome illustration and put together a Cubee Mickee!! He turned out pretty darn cute (helps that Steph is an amazing designer)!

Mickey likes car rides to Starbucks, not going for walks, but rather be carried on walks, he loves to snuggle and get all the attention he can! Oh and treats! 

I've been really loving paper crafts for the past week, so I decided to go through my Flickr and make a Print & Paper Craft set, here it is! 

Pretty simple cube art! Just print, cut, score, and build! 

Daniel at my office has already made a bunch of these, but now Dave put this fellow together -see his added touch here! We want to make a giant cubee craft using the large format printer and cardboard! I hope it happens! What other paper craft ideas do you all have!? I want to hear em!

Hello! I am StrumpBot!

For work I made a Super Sonic Print Bot, who loves CMYK! (ps if you're a design and want free business cards-signup for this contest at SonicPrint - the best printing company ever!) 

I decided to design a StrumpBot for Strumpet's Crumpets! You can download her and put her together yourself! Or you can hop over to CubeeCraft and check out all the crazy paper crafts they have - they are very awesome! 

My StrumpBot was inspired by my favorite pinball game Bride of PinBot! She's one hot Bot! ;) 

My bot has tattoos because they're cute - one says, "Beep bop Boop," which in robot speak means, "I love you!" and she have Bot Life on her belly - hehe! Nerdy bots can turn her on ;) too much?

Last year I don't think I went in a mall once for a Christmas gift and this year I plan on doing the same! Last night I was making my Christmas gift list, I start with the easiest people first - my sister and close gal friends. Things that glitter will make them smile! 

I know Lauren would love a pair of these Glided Herringbone Toms - why because we talked about it and she specifically told me ;)

Strumpet's Christmas Ornament Swap

Who would like to take part in the Strumpet's Ornament Swap!? 

Hopefully everyone! The more the merrier! 

So here's the scoop: ANYONE, anywhere can participate in the ornament swap! You will only have to make one AWESOME ornament to swap! Your ornament will need to be completed by Dec. 3rd, so you partner can display it on their tree or in their home. If you'd like to participate all you have to do is comment with your name and email and how stoked you are to swap ornaments! You have til Nov 19th to signup, which is this coming Friday! By Monday the 22nd I will pick your swap partner and email you! Then you email your partner letting them know who you are and ask for their address! So you'll receive a very awesome ornament  and have a new crafty friend! I met Erica (blog bud) through a craft swap! She's awesome! Bok Tower Adventure

Bok Tower Gardens may be the most beautiful place I've ever seen! Not to sound braggy, but I've seen gardens in Morocco, mountains in Colorado, churches in Paris, Belgian Castles, but this place was almost magical and very odd. Bok Tower is in the middle of Polk County, which is a very rural area in central Florida. You drive a half a mile from the main road to reach the front gate, then you walk through these amazing gardens (you could walk for miles)! The day we went the weather was so perfect, especially for Florida (I couldn't imagine going in the summer - the heat would kill you). There's orange trees and giant grapefruits and flowers in ever direction, I felt like I was in Alice in Wonderland or the Secret Garden and the Tower looked like it was from Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings! I was waiting for the dandelions to start singing to me! You could fed these GIANT koi fish - they were the biggest I've ever seen! There were swans you could feed, but I didn't because birds are a bit unpredictable in my experience! 

The tower was so out of place and so beautiful all at the same time! It played the prettiest music -  I could have stayed all day! Oh and the flowers - their  fragrance was so so strong, it was unreal! Brian and I walked throw the gardens holding hands, smiling, and joking while Eli ran up and down the paths - he was just so excited - like I said not to sound cheesy, but it was so magical! I tried to name all the flowers I could, thanks to my grandmother I knew a bunch! Here are some of the photos I took! If you are ever near Lake Wales, which is near Orlando in the middle of Florida you need to go to Bok Tower Gardens! It's very special!

wonderful weekend

This weekend we went down south to meet up with family! It was a great little trip! I crocheted on the drive down  (and the way up while listening to Outliers for the second time- read that book!), we walked on the beach, ate tasty Cuban food, played pool -which I'm terrible at, there's so many rules, played shuffle board (I have an old soul - I LOVE shuffle board), just had a wonderful weekend! We also went to Bok Tower, which is the most beautiful place I've ever seen! I've been wanting to go for awhile now, and this weekend we went!! I'll be back later with those photos and information on the Strumpet's Christmas Ornament Swaparoo! Get excited!!

You better not cry, Better not pout I'm telling you why..........

Krampus is coming to town!!!!!!! To collect all the bad boys and girls!! 

Well with Halloween over I've been a bit bummed, but that's all changed since I've learned about Krampus, thanks to Miss Larissa Bree!!! Thank you again ;) 

So the Krampus helps Santa with the bad kids! Just look at him!! He's a lil demon! Ha! Some crazy adults thought this was a good idea to keep kids in line?! I love it! Oh so I found this awesome paper toy, printed it out, and put him together!! Please note the terrified child in his wicker basket!!! Bahahaha! 

Dave at my office was nice enough to print out a huge Krampus mask for me!! So stop threatening your kids with Santa not coming, threaten them with the Krampus coming if they don't watch it!

Well now I know what I want on my Christmas cards this year - The Krampus! I can't wait! ;)

Veteran's Day

Today is Veteran's Day, take sometime to remember those who have served for us. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of my grandfather who serviced in the AirForce. He passed away when I was a year old from Leukemia, more than likely a result from agent orange, which was used to kill the thick vegetation during the Vietnam War. I wasn't able to know him, but boy do I feel like I do! I've heard so many stories from my grandmother and family.

He was a bit of a rascal (that's the nice way of putting it)! He was 6'5 and looked like a movie star! In the AirForce he traveled all over the world. He had more hobbies than I could list here! When he was very sick with cancer and I was only a year old, he realized I didn't have a rocking chair. So he went out to his work shop and built me one - right then, sick and everything!! He has a super hero status in my mind.

 Oh and he was amazing talented in wood working (something he passed on to my dad - along with his super heroness ;))! These photos are from Vietnam, this is what he did to pass the time. Last Christmas I took all his slides from my grandmother's house and used a slide scanner to put them on a DVD for my family (there were thousands of slides). Slides on flickr.

You know who we should also remember today - the spouses of the Vets! My Nanny raised 3 kids while my grandfather was overseas! How crazy would that be?! She's a real super hero! I've asked her how she did it and she just says, "You do what you have to and everything turned out great!"

Custom Afghans

This custom afghan is for the lovely Fancy Lady - go check out her cookies ;) 

She asked me to make a custom giant granny square blanket for her and I was more than excited and happy to! She picked out these four colors above; purple, lime green, white, and black. I still have Halloween on the brain and those 4 colors together reminded me of a great Halloween Hero, Frankenstein, but a sweet cute little Frankenstein - hence the name I gave it! I love it so much!

What's in this gal's bag

What's in my bag? Oh so much stuff! First my bag is from the very wonderful ModCloth.com! They have some great bags ps! So I was sick a few weeks ago, and the doc put me on some medicine, and the bottle opened in my purse -boo- so I decided it was time to clean out my purse (and find all the medicine). 

So here we go: film (used & not used), moo stickers, bobby pins, tide pen (never used ha!), wet ones (for the kiddo), strawberry gum (my favorite), wallet, lotion, Dramamine (I get motion sickness), pens, chap stick, headache and bellyache meds, nail file.....

The note book was given to me by Miss Carly (I love it and probably use it everyday!), iPhone, receipts, business cards (Steph Dillon's on top!), keys, address book, makeup pouch (fix your face), is that everything? So much! Geez! Sometimes is so heavy! Sometimes there's legos and crochet hooks in there. 

But my bag is NOTHING compared to my sister's! I think she's gonna have back problems from her purse - Lauren, you are!! If we're out at the store and she hands me her purse so she can hold up clothes or something, I can't for very long because it's gotta be 30lbs - seriously!
