Amber, I've been chugging Airborne! Ladies, I have green tea and honey coming out of my ears lol!! I never thought cough drops really worked, but I am WRONG - they work like a charm! I really haven't done anything at all the past couple days - I HATE being sick! Last night I did finish a pair of fingerless gloves for my sister! Then went straight to sleep Ha! Fingers crossed I'll be 100% back to my old self tomorrow! We have a little adventure we are going on this weekend! Can't wait to tell you all about it Monday! :)
Thank you again for the sweetness!

one awesome christmas

We had a nice long Christmas celebration starting Christmas eve! During the day I went to lunch with my very best friend and her hubby! I was so happy to see! I just miss her so much! I need to get to Boston more often and see her!! That night we went to my parent's house, ate chinese food (fancy I know, it was 9pm and everything was closed!), and spent the whole night laughing and opening gifts! It was awesome! My parents got me just what I wanted!! So lucky! They are wonderful! My sister and brother really got me wonderful gifts too! Perfect in fact, Lauren got me and Brian the super fancy Scrabble game - so sweet and thoughtful of her! Plus she got my this amazing paper DIY wedding craft book!! My brother got me a Harry Potter nesting doll from Russia!
We got home so late, but I got an idea from my aunt Jenny to write a note to the little bit! But instead of Santa I made it from our Elves on the Shelf! Look how tiny it is! It's 2pt font HeHE!! The little bit love it! He read it 3 or 4 times then wrote a little thank you note back!!!
Once all the gifts were torn open, we played and ate! It was a very special morning!
I opened my gifts from Brian, they were so perfect! One was a letterpress!!! If you don't know we have a small print shop and I've become fascinated with the old table top letterpresses! I'm so excited to get started with it and show you the prints!
We then went over to my Nanny's and celebrated til the evening! Wonderful food, hilarious Larry Farley jokes, just so nice! And of course Mickey - he's such a cuddler!!
I hope you all had a very merry Christmas! I'd love to hear all about your gifts!!

It never snows in Florida....

Last night we decked the halls for real! We (me & the sick kiddo) cut out 50+ paper snow flakes!
 It was crazy!

Turned out pretty though!

We made a HUGE mess! So I felt like it was okay to let him make a bigger mess 1. it's Christmas 2. he's sick 3. I would have wanted to do it as a kid! So I let him make it snow in the living room! Our Dyson Vacuum is SERIOUSLY the best! It cleaned up every lil piece! -sounded too grown up huh?

So when we woke up this morning it was snowing! In Florida! Ha!!

I think this will be a new tradition - cover the windows in snow flakes!

Happy Winter

Holiday Dunnys
Christmas dunnys! The one in the middle is the newest one! Creepy cute right?!
Yesterday it was officially the first day of winter! It's been so chilly in Tampa who knew it wasn't winter! Christmas is so close! I'm mostly finished wrapping gifts, just need to make some tasty food to take to my Nanny's Christmas day, and finish one last handmade gift! My best bud is down from Boston, can't wait to give her a huge hug! Things are going good! How's your count down to Christmas going?

Two Turtle Doves

Today I'm going to spread a little peace! Here is a quick DIY turtle dove wreath!
Turtle doves represent peace, hence why we use them to decorate at the holidays!
photo 1
You'll need green and white paper, embroidery hoop, glue, ribbon, and scissors.
photo 2
Cut out your leaves and doves. Glue your leave right on to the hoop!
photo 3
You can print this photo and trace my dove if you'd like! Don't forget the wings!
photo 4
Now I attached the wing to the body with those tiny red tacks, which allow the wings to move! I used a hole punch to create eyes on the doves!
photo 5
There you go two turtle doves!
Happy holidays kiddos! I wish you so much happiness and a wonderful Christmas day with your families and friends!

Farley Family Cookie Day 2010

Farley Family Cookie Day 2010
This past Sunday was our family's Farley Family Cookie Day. Above we are picking out recipes! Mostly the kids just decorate the sugar cookies, see here. Look how stoked Mickey is!! This day (for me) comes in a very close 2nd to Halloween as favorite day of the year! Halloween still being my favorite!
This was the 25th year we've made cookies with my aunt Jackie, crazy huh!? My aunt Jackie said next year I have to host, bahahaha I don't have her patience! There's no way! Plus she knows everything about baking, our cookies would be gross if I hosted! Trust me!
Cookies
Here are a few of the cookies we made! Lauren's bff Amber came to cookie day! Every year at least one of our good friends comes over to help! Amber is like a Farley kid anyways!
Some iPhone photos - 1. Eli being cute 2. me and Mickey 3. Lauren's purple upside down lady gaga cross with high heel sprinkles 4. Danny freaking Lauren out with a bear hug! Awwww my family! I love them so much! Here's last year's cookie day photo! And 2008! 2007! 2006! Oh and 2005!!
Thank you Aunt Jackie and Travo for another WONDERFUL cookie day!! Till next year!

Look what I made!

I had to share this with all you gals and guys - I just made a fingerless glover! Thanks to Twinkie Chan's Crochet Goodies for Fashion Foodies book! I've never crocheted anything like this before!! I'm so stoked! The pattern was for Strawberry gloves, but I didn't have strawberry colors with me! I add the pink puff to the photo in ode to Twinkie - looks like an icecream cone right?! I still have to make one more - obviously! But right now I'm so happy to have figured it out!! If I can do it I promise you can! There's so much counting and remembering what row you're on - tricky!
I'll be back with amazing photos from our Christmas office party and Farley Family Cookie Day 2010 photos ;) we had the most incredible few days! I'm pretty stoked about Christmas! Plus I haven't gone to one mall to shop - WOOT!! Gotta love that!

making paper snow flakes

paper snow flakes
At work Daniel (head of the party planning committee- bahahaha) gave me the task of making snowflakes for our office party! I started making 4 point snowflakes and Dave (pooper of parties -jk) told me, my flakes were lame and he taught me how to make 6 pointed flakes. He grew up in New England so he knows his snowflakes, this Florida gal has only seen snow a dozen times. So I thought I'd share what I learned with you! You'll need a square sheet of paper, fold your right top point to you lower left point, then fold in half again. Take your triangle and create a Z with 2 folds. Cut the top part off at an angle, then create your flake!
making flakes
Much prettier than a 4 pointed snow flake! Thank you Dave for your flake making skills!
We even taught the lil one! Do you have any snowflake pointers?
Oh and remember I will be choosing a winner for the Strumpet's Crocheted Star Garland tomorrow! So go sign up to win!

This little star was tricky and drove me nutty when I first started it, but last night I picked it up and TADA! Here's a similar star ornament one I make 2 years ago.
What projects do you have like this? I have 3 quilts that are stuck in that unfinished stage - here, here, and here! Maybe I'll pick up a new [old] project tonight!

This weekend was just what I wanted, minus the head cold I now have. I crafted/crocheted all day! My brother and Lydie went to Hobby Lobby with me (I wouldn't want to go alone ha!)! We bought some yarn and then Lydie learned to crochet! She is a natural! She got the hang of it real quick! Danny made the biggest fire for us! I'm so glad Danny's home from school and soon my sister will be too! On Sunday I fought off a cold, watched the Addams Family twice, and finished an afghan! Be back later with a handmade giveaway!! Hope your weekend was a lovely one! ps it's so cold in Tampa!!

Christmas Tree Decorating!

Sometimes I forget how much I love Christmas! I'm feeling extra spirited lately!
lights <3
Growing up we used white lights most of the time! Mags (mom) was big on white lights everywhere! I do LOVE white lights too, but this year I went in the opposite direction! Big, colorful bulbs!
Bright side - I love the look. Down side - they are HOT (makes me a bit nervous)!
