My New Letterpress

I had to let you peek at my Christmas gift from Brian - my new letterpress!! It just came in the mail yesterday! I'm going to burst with excitement! So take a peek! It needs some work and new rollers, but once all that is finished Strumpet's Crumpets Letterpress Shop will be up and running!

I am very lucky to work with a few fellows who are knowledgeable in letterpress printing! ps I work at a printing company, but we use digital printers and a large offset printer, so very different from this little letterpress! I am just so excited to get started! And I had to share with you all!! Look at the tiny fonts!

Wow, that's a piece of printing history. What a great gift! And you're lucky to have such knowledgeable coworkers. I hope you appreciate them.

That is so awesome. I am always jealous of people with letter presses. I will have to get some letter pressed stuff though.

Wow! That is so cool! Can't wait to see what you'll make with it - I think I'd spend hours playing with that thing!

I started out (5th. grade)printing on press like urs'. Have u memorized where all the type characters are located in the type case? Took me a couple weeks.

Here's a link . . . http://gochipmunk.com/html/contents.html [copy/paste into browser] just in case ur' interested in learning how we did printing in 1960 era. I was Head Machinist @ Wis Cuneo Press, Milwaukee, Wi. We had 65 of those monsters called Linotype. There are lots of pictures of equipment for/about typesetting, plus many lines of explanation about them. Also a page about Print Devil Early Years. Just look for the guy wearing a goofy hat smokin a cigar. I ain’t tellin’ any more. Read for ur’ self.
Want any other help…. Use this… batmanpete@gmail.com
Cheers!
